Report on Israeli Influence over Trump and Iran

A recent report claims that Israeli leaders convinced President Donald Trump to consider an offensive against Iran, which some officials are calling a “farce.” The New York Times revealed that several U.S. Cabinet members, notably CIA Director John Ratcliffe, had doubts about Israel’s intentions to strike Iran and alter its government just weeks ahead of escalating tensions.

After meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Situation Room on February 11, President Trump seemed to become an advocate for the initiative. This plan, presented in a confidential White House discussion, included plans to eliminate the Ayatollah, undermine the current government, and install a secular leader. Nonetheless, many senior officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, expressed skepticism about the feasibility of a full regime change.

“In my experience, this is standard procedure for the Israelis. They tend to oversell their strategies, and their plans aren’t always meticulously crafted. They understand they need our support, which leads to exaggeration,” Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Cain reportedly remarked during a subsequent Situation Room meeting.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly commented on the situation, stating, “In other words, it’s nonsense.” Ratcliffe went further, labeling the plan as unpredictable, calling it a “farce.” Despite the warnings, President Trump remained focused on eliminating the Ayatollah and dismantling Iran’s military structure, believing that complete regime change was not a significant concern for the United States.

U.S. officials cautioned Trump that an attack on Iran might strain the country’s already limited military resources, particularly its anti-missile supplies. While Israel assured Trump that it could prevent Iranian actions prior to any closure of the Strait of Hormuz, General Cain expressed differing views. Trump, however, was optimistic that the conflict with Iran would be short-lived.

On February 28, the United States and Israel initiated Operation Epic Fury against Iran. Trump warned that if Iran failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by the following Tuesday evening, it would face devastating consequences.
