Angel Reese addresses the 'uncomfortable' situation following the Dream trade

Angel Reese Discusses Transition and Challenges

Angel Reese opened up on Monday about what she called a “horrible step” during her move from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, highlighting the discomfort that came with the transition.

At a panel event in Los Angeles for Coach Story Sessions, alongside Dallas Wings player Paige Backers, Reese reflected on the exhilaration she felt after a recent victory in Atlanta.

Reese shared, “It’s like déjà vu—transferring from Maryland to LSU and clinching a championship feels familiar.” She played a crucial role in leading the LSU women’s basketball team to its first NCAA title in 2023. “Being in Chicago for two years and now moving to Atlanta, there’s this renewed drive to win again.”

She emphasized the importance of introspection, saying, “Sometimes you’re alone in the dark and it can get pretty lonely. Social media often shows just one side of things. Ultimately, you have to confront yourself, figure out your desires, and seek out discomfort.”

Reese added, “Feeling uncomfortable is part of growth. So, take that leap, even if others don’t believe in you. Keep pushing ahead; I believe in you.”

Her insights followed an event in New York, where she attended the launch of Victoria’s Secret’s global campaign for its new swim collection.

A Baltimore native standing at 6-foot-3, Reese made the move to LSU from Maryland in 2022, having averaged 23 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game, ultimately earning the MVP title in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Selected by the Sky as the seventh pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she set a new record for single-season rebounds in the league with 446 that year.

Reese led the WNBA last season with 23 double-doubles.

Despite her personal achievements, the Sky missed the playoffs during both of her seasons. Reese expressed her dissatisfaction with the team’s performance last fall, making it clear she wasn’t entirely content with her experience.

Following comments made to the Chicago Tribune about her feelings towards the series, Reese faced a suspension during a game on September 7, after which she publicly apologized to her teammates.

Unfortunately, a lingering hip injury prevented her from participating in the Sky’s last three games of the season.

The upcoming WNBA regular season, marking the league’s 30th season, is set to kick off on May 8. The Dream will begin their season two days later, facing off against the Minnesota team.
