Disturbing video has surfaced showing the aftermath of a young mother’s horrific encounter with a pit bull. The incident took place after Karma Davis, 25, from Peoria, Illinois, experienced an epileptic seizure on March 2, causing her to lose consciousness on her kitchen floor, exposed to her family’s dog, Faizo.
In a GoFundMe post, Davis shared the extent of her injuries, including a shocking image of her severely damaged face. She stated, “My dog seriously injured my face while I was unconscious.”
Photos depict the horrifying impact of the attack, with the dog inflicting severe injuries around her mouth and face, destroying most of her lips and leaving her lower face in tatters. Not only did she lose parts of her lips, but also significant portions of her left cheek, the area beneath her nose, and her left ear.
Davis’s right ear was also partially severed, though surgeons were able to reattach it later. After regaining consciousness, she felt bewildered and reached out to her fiancé, Trenton Davis, unaware of what had transpired during her seizure.
“I ended up finding my iPad and texting Trent at work,” she recounted. He urged her to video chat, sensing something was wrong. It was during this call that they both grasped the reality of the situation. “I started freaking out. I kept saying, ‘Faizo ate my face.’ It looks like a skeleton. My lips are gone,” she continued.
Davis ended up in the hospital, where she underwent weeks of reconstructive surgery and spent nearly three days in a medically induced coma. She now regularly sees a plastic surgeon but struggles to eat normally because of her injuries, relying on a G-tube for nutrition.
Faizo, a dog the family had owned for four years, was subsequently taken to animal control and euthanized following the incident. Despite the tragedy, Davis expressed some sympathy for the dog, noting its abusive past. Yet, she admitted that she wouldn’t feel safe having him back in their home. “I miss him, but I don’t want him to come back,” she said, reflecting on her lingering trauma when viewing his pictures on her camera.
