Jimmy Kimmel Criticizes 'Ignorant' Trump Supporters, Calls Them Poor Christians on Michelle Obama's Podcast

Jimmy Kimmel Discusses Political Commentary on Michelle Obama’s Podcast

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was a guest on Michelle Obama’s podcast, where he addressed critics who have taken issue with his ongoing anti-Trump commentary on his ABC show.

Kimmel, known for his strong opposition to Trump, suggested that his critics aren’t executing their roles as hosts effectively.

During the conversation with Obama and her brother Craig Robinson, he expressed that discussing politics, especially in the current climate, feels “inevitable.” He mentioned he would feel “embarrassed” if he chose to remain silent on such crucial topics.

“It feels natural to talk about these issues. I can’t really envision discussing anything else on a night like that,” Kimmel noted. He added that he loves making people laugh, emphasizing that audience reaction is what fuels him.

He also urged MAGA supporters to refrain from dictating what he should be doing in his role. Kimmel remarked, “When you say it’s your job, I take issue with that. Don’t tell me what my role is. My job is defined by what I choose and what my employer permits.”

Furthermore, he criticized those overly focused on attacking Trump for being unaware of the comedic landscape’s history. “Comedians have been commenting on politics for ages. George Carlin and Richard Pryor were part of my generation. To claim that Johnny Carson didn’t engage in this discourse reflects a lack of understanding of comedy,” he stated, emphasizing that societal context changes the conversation.

Kimmel also had remarks for MAGA voters, suggesting they fail to adhere to Christian principles. “The basic tenet of MAGA seems to be refusing to accept fault, which contrasts sharply with the idea of seeking forgiveness and understanding found in Christianity,” he explained.

This comes from Kimmel, who hasn’t commented on the sexual misconduct allegations against former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, a figure he supported and had on his show to discuss Swalwell’s paused gubernatorial campaign in California.
