Yankees vs. Angels Series Highlights Mike Trout’s Dominance
This week’s series between the Yankees and Angels turned out to be quite the spectacle, with Mike Trout emerging as the standout performer.
Trout managed to outshine fellow three-time MVP Aaron Judge, winning 5-4 over the four-game series split. Impressively, he hit home runs in every game, notching two in several, including a solo homer during the Angels’ 11-4 victory over the Yankees on Thursday afternoon in the Bronx.
“It’s just unreal,” remarked Giancarlo Stanton, who also contributed with a homer despite the loss. “The way he and Judge performed was something else. Sure, we’d prefer a different outcome, but you can’t overlook that level of talent. That performance was key to today’s outcome.”
With his homer in the seventh inning against Yankees’ relief pitcher Angel Chibili, Trout made history, becoming the first visiting player to hit a home run over four consecutive days at Yankee Stadium.
At 34 years old, Trout has faced injury challenges lately, but he went 6-for-16 in this series, totaling five home runs, eight RBIs, and three walks.
“He’s not chasing anything, and he capitalizes in specific parts of the zone,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. “Chibili had a good plan against him for most of the at-bat, but then he switched to that changeup. [Trout] made him pay.”
“He’s clearly healthy and honestly, the best player ever. This series was tough for us,” Boone added.
Judge also made waves, hitting a home run in the first inning of Thursday’s game, marking his fifth in five games, which briefly tied him with Trout during the series.
Both teams managed to hit big balls on Tuesday’s opener, but the Angels kept Judge in check on that day.
The Yankees were optimistic about Trout returning to form, but unfortunately, they didn’t achieve that goal.
“You can see he’s been phenomenal since day one,” noted Max Fried, who issued two walks to Trout. “He’s incredibly patient and understands the zone really well. I aimed to throw strikes, but too often, I just couldn’t hit the mark. I wanted to challenge him, but it ended up being pretty frustrating.”
