Buckley Carlson Departs J.D. Vance’s Press Team

WASHINGTON — Buckley Carlson, son of conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, has stepped away from his role with Vice President J.D. Vance to launch his own political consulting business. This shift occurs in the backdrop of increasing tensions between President Trump and his father.

In his 20s, Buckley has been the deputy press secretary for Vance since the start of Trump’s second term. His departure adds to the number of White House staffers transitioning to the private sector.

While it’s not unusual for personnel to change during an administration, Buckley’s exit comes at a time when the relationship between Trump, 79, and Tucker, 56, is notably strained. They were once strong allies.

Recently, Trump criticized Tucker on his social media platform, calling him a “broken man” after his dismissal from Fox News, suggesting that perhaps seeing a psychiatrist might be beneficial for him.

Additionally, Trump referenced Tucker as low IQ, highlighting how he’s often easily defeated in disagreements. Tucker has voiced his concerns regarding the administration without directly naming Trump.

Instead, he has attributed grievances, such as the ongoing Iran conflict, to Trump’s associates, notably Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and has pushed Trump privately to oppose the war.

In exchanges, Trump has accused Tucker of being a “freak” following his criticism of military operations against Iran.

Meanwhile, Trump has intensified his role in the podcast landscape, appearing to lean towards radio host Mark Levine instead of siding with figures like Tucker, Megyn Kelly, and Candace Owens.

Earlier this month, Tucker expressed his shock over Trump’s alarming remark that civilization could end if a deal with Iran isn’t reached, stating, “I’ve always liked Trump, and I still feel for him.” An article claims that Trump is “unable to make his own decisions” due to outside influences.

Reports indicate that Buckley’s decision to leave had been in the works since last year but was postponed for a smoother transition.

Prior to this role, Buckley was the deputy chief of staff for former Representative Jim Banks from Indiana.
