Trump Stands Firm on Iran Negotiations
President Donald Trump declared on Monday that he won’t be coerced by Democrats into reaching a subpar agreement with Iran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that he is not under pressure to finalize a deal with Iran, dismissing reports claiming otherwise. He suggested that a conclusion would come “relatively quickly” and mentioned:
“Democrats are trying to undermine our strong position on Iran. While they talk about past wars lasting years, they seem to think I promised a quick resolution with Iran. The reality is that it can happen much faster. However, I’m not going to be rushed into something less than ideal. I’ve seen fake news about pressures to make deals; this isn’t true! There’s no pressure, and everything will progress relatively quickly.”
He further stated that time is not against him:
“Time is not my enemy. The goal is to finally resolve the issues caused by previous administrations regarding Iran. We’re committed to doing it right. I won’t allow anyone, especially those who have downplayed our military’s achievements, to diminish what we’ve accomplished. This operation is being managed on a scale akin to Venezuela, but it’s more complex. The outcome will mirror our past successes. In my first term, I built an unmatched military, including the Space Force. Now, in my second term, I’m using the military effectively to tackle problems left by others. Let’s make America great again!”
Later on Monday, Trump criticized former President Barack Obama’s nuclear agreement with Iran, asserting that any deal made under Obama was inherently flawed.
“The agreement we’re working on will surpass the JCPOA, known as the ‘Iran Nuclear Deal,’ developed by Obama and Biden, which was detrimental to our national security. Goals under that deal would have led to nuclear weapons proliferation. They even transferred $1.7 billion in cash to Iran. Banks in Washington, DC, had never encountered anything like that before. They also disbursed hundreds of billions to Iran. If I hadn’t stepped away from that deal, nuclear weapons could have been unleashed in Israel and across the Middle East, impacting our military bases. Critics like David Ignatius from the Washington Post know the risks of the JCPOA. A deal under my administration would ensure peace and safety not only for Israel and the Middle East but also for Europe and the world. It’s time to reclaim our dignity from years of poor leadership,” Trump stated.
On Sunday, Trump announced plans to send a delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan, for negotiations on Monday night. Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner were indicated to be part of that mission.
However, sources confirmed to Breitbart News that the delegation had not yet departed, but plans were in motion. A senior Iranian official noted that if Vance attended, they would send Mohammad Bagher Ghariba for the next round of discussions.
