Tragic Incident in Louisiana Involving Gunman and Family

In a tragic event in Shreveport, Louisiana, Shamar Elkins shot and killed his seven children and a young cousin, while also injuring his wife and girlfriend. Weeks before this horrific act, he had shared an unsettling post on Facebook, expressing a desire to “go back in time” to father a child with “another woman.”

On March 8, the 31-year-old Army veteran posed a thought-provoking question on social media: “Dads, if you could go back in time and have a child with another woman and still have the same child, would you do it?” His ominous musings suggested a troubled mindset.

“Oh yeah, that’s what I would do,” he remarked in a post that included an image aimed at fathers, originally titled “Dads Matter Everywhere.”

Elkins’ actions unfolded amid an ongoing divorce battle with his wife, Shanequa Pugh, just days before a court appearance scheduled for the following Monday. His online activity showcased a pattern of paranoia, intertwined with snapshots of his children.

In another post from the same day, he cryptically discussed “rebuilding his life” amidst familial issues. He acknowledged the struggle many face, stating, “Shout out to everyone who is rebuilding their lives. You’re alone. No wealthy relatives. No favors. No daddy’s money. You can go far in life even if you experience loss and disrespect.” He simply captioned it, “That’s exactly right.”

Another notable entry from March 11 read, “Please understand that you may be misunderstood.”

Elkins had a history of legal troubles, including DUI and firearm-related offenses. Following the shooting, his wife managed to call 911, reporting with a shaky voice that he “shot everyone” in their home. Afterward, he carjacked a vehicle and led police on a chase that ended with the shooting death of a Louisiana Army National Guard veteran in Bossier City.

The eight victims included children aged between three and eleven. Disturbingly, most were shot in the head, while one child was killed while trying to escape from the roof. One child managed to survive after jumping off the roof but suffered a broken leg.
