Steak ‘n Shake Names Its First MAHA CEO

Steak ‘n Shake has appointed its first MAHA chief executive, which signifies yet another step in the fast food chain’s commitment to healthier, more transparent ingredients.

On Tuesday, the Indianapolis-based company shared on social media that Michael Bose will take on the role of executive officer, focusing on enhancing the nutritional quality, ingredient transparency, and healthfulness of its products.

This shift aligns with the brand’s support for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement.

Bose previously held a position as a senior advisor at HHS, involved in health policy and strategic initiatives.

In a recent post, Bose recalled numerous conversations with industry partners about a return to real food during his tenure with Secretary Kennedy. “I kept hearing the same hesitance: ‘Customers don’t want that,’” he reflected. Yet, he pointed out, Steak ‘n Shake defied that notion, experiencing continued growth.

“Fast food doesn’t have to equal processed and artificial,” Bose asserted, emphasizing that it once stood for real, simple, and delicious meals—and it can do so again.

He expressed eagerness to help build on this foundation and to contribute to the brand’s next phase of growth.

The company framed Bose’s appointment as integral to a broader effort aimed at returning to its roots, capturing the classic essence of American fast food: simply authentic and tasty.

Bose mentioned that customers should not have to make a choice between taste and health. Recently, Steak ‘n Shake has begun frying its fare—like fries and tater tots—in 100% beef tallow instead of seed oil, igniting lively discussions surrounding flavor, tradition, and nutrition.

Former President Donald Trump even praised this move in response to the company’s social media update, calling it “Amazing.” Recently, Steak ‘n Shake has made several updates, including using only Wisconsin butter and offering cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The chain is also transitioning to A2 dairy products, favored by some for being easier on digestion.

As part of its ongoing journey, the chain has indicated plans to use grass-fed beef and intends to eliminate microwaves in kitchens, opting for traditional cooking methods instead.

Some changes, particularly regarding the use of beef tallow, have stirred controversy. While some customers celebrate this return to “authentic” cooking, others are skeptical about whether swapping out fats actually healthier for fast food.

Steak ‘n Shake has not yet responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding these developments.
