Celeste Rivas, a 14-year-old girl, tragically lost her life due to “multiple penetrating wounds,” according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Chief Coroner Dr. Odei Ukpo expressed gratitude for being able to share this information, stating, “After several months, we are glad this can now be reported publicly, providing clarity to the grieving family.”
Ukpo also mentioned the importance of transparency in these findings, which helps communities feel less fearful and better prepared to react appropriately.
Rivas’s dismembered body was found on September 8, 2025, inside the trunk of a Tesla belonging to D4vd, whose real name is David Burke.
It took investigators several months to establish the cause and manner of Rivas’s death, with a final determination made on December 8, 2025.
Burke was charged with first-degree murder, with additional special circumstances involved.
These special circumstances include murder linked to witness tampering and potential financial gain, as Rivas was allegedly a witness in a prior investigation involving Burke.
Burke has also been charged with lewd conduct involving a minor and mutilation of human remains. Officials suggest the financial motivation stems from concerns that allegations might harm his music career.
During his arraignment, Burke remained silent after the charges were filed, and his defense team entered not guilty pleas on his behalf.
Rivas’s parents spoke publicly about their daughter, thanking the Los Angeles Police Department and the community for their support. They described her as a vibrant girl who loved singing and dancing, expressing their deep love and longing for her. They emphasized their desire for justice.
Burke was arrested on April 16 at his home in Hollywood Hills, with footage showing his arrest being circulated.
His defense attorneys have maintained that the evidence will prove Burke’s innocence, stating that no formal indictment exists, and that he is currently only being held under suspicion.
