Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and her delegation returned from Washington, D.C., not only sharing a photo with President Trump but also bringing back some of the “Make America Great Again” merchandise.
Spencer Pratt, an independent mayoral candidate, posted a photo on Wednesday showing Bass, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Berger, and their team on a sidewalk in D.C.
In this picture, several people around the Democratic mayor are holding red and white bags, with a notable white bag sporting Trump’s emblem.
Pratt asserted that Bass’ team was carrying MAGA merchandise, which many liberals tend to criticize.
“Look at the MAGA swag! Karen Bass sold her soul to Trump in a last desperate act before the election,” Pratt remarked.
When asked about the photo, Bass’ office opted not to comment.
This week, Bass and Berger visited Washington, D.C. to discuss relief efforts related to last year’s wildfires in Los Angeles. They asserted their determination to press insurance companies for better assistance.
They noted, “We had very positive discussions about FEMA and further recovery funding, and the President’s efforts to encourage insurance companies to address their backlogs, as well as urging banks to alleviate financial pressures on Los Angeles families.”
Reportedly, discussions aimed at securing additional federal disaster funding from FEMA primarily centered on addressing the economic challenges facing fire-affected families.
City and county officials are counting on federal action, fearing that without it, recovery efforts could extend for years.
Pratt, who has previously registered as a Republican, suggested that the merchandise was an effort to align with Trump during the mayor’s meeting. Bass is up against Pratt in this election.
Some commenters pushed back against Pratt’s claims, suggesting it might alienate Trump supporters who resonate with the MAGA message.
One commenter mentioned, “MAGA supports you in California, and you risk losing a lot of support if you take this route.”
