ICE Releases List of Undocumented Immigrants Convicted of Violent Crimes
On Monday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unveiled its latest list of undocumented immigrants deemed the “worst of the worst,” featuring individuals convicted of serious offenses such as pedophilia, kidnapping, and various violent crimes.
This time, 15 individuals were identified, consisting of 13 men and 2 women hailing from countries like the Dominican Republic, China, Angola, Mexico, and several South American nations. Many of them were convicted in states like New York, Florida, and Texas, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Biss stated that, “ICE arrested pedophiles, sexual deviants, kidnappers, and other violent thugs this past weekend.” She emphasized that law enforcement actively works to remove dangerous criminals from communities, asserting that those who break the law by entering the country illegally are targeted for arrest. “Criminals aren’t welcome in the United States,” she added.
Details on Some Notable Arrests
Alejandro Santos Fernandez, originally from Mexico, was convicted in Texas for breaking into a home, subsequently assaulting a household member with a deadly weapon. Guadalupe Mercado Guerra, also a Mexican national, faced multiple counts of child molestation in Travis County, Texas.
Ruowei Liu, a Chinese national, was convicted of prostitution and managing unlawful residences in Virginia. Meanwhile, Katherine Palacios Medina, another Mexican citizen, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Idaho.
Juan Manuel Valdez from the Dominican Republic was found guilty of selling controlled substances in New Hampshire. Rafael Garcia, a Mexican national, faced charges of child sexual abuse in California.
In Minnesota, authorities arrested a convicted pedophile named Josman Policarpo, from Angola, who had previously been convicted of aggravated sexual assault in Texas. Carlos Perez Mendez, another Mexican national, was found guilty of sexual assault in Illinois.
Various other individuals on the released list include those from China, Venezuela, and Colombia, reflecting a broad range of serious offenses across different states.
Overall, the recent operation showcases ICE’s ongoing efforts to handle undocumented immigrants with violent criminal backgrounds, highlighting a complex and often contentious aspect of immigration enforcement in the U.S.
