Missing Oklahoma Senate Candidate Found Dead
The body of Barry Christian, a Republican candidate for the Oklahoma state Senate, has been discovered inside a truck in a rural area after he was reported missing earlier this week. The 54-year-old from Sayre was last seen on Tuesday, and his campaign confirmed the sad news two days later.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) verified that Christian’s gray Ram truck was located near Highway 30, with his body inside. Reportedly, the truck was positioned along a ravine near the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area, which complicated the recovery of the vehicle and delayed the identification process.
Authorities are still trying to ascertain the cause of death, with further details remaining unclear. It’s been announced that he was discovered dead in what might be linked to a hijacking.
Christian was reported missing after not showing up for a scheduled event. According to the Hermon County Sheriff’s Office, the last known sighting of him was while driving the same truck that was later discovered.
His campaign website had positioned him as a “conservative choice,” pledging to stand by President Trump and uphold traditional conservative values if elected.
In an emotional statement, his daughter, Brooklyn, conveyed her heartbreak over the loss, expressing disbelief and a longing for further clarity about the circumstances. She urged others to remember her father’s memory with respect and dignity.
In her message, Brooklyn also expressed gratitude towards those who participated in search efforts and those in the media who helped share her father’s story, noting the widespread impact of his death on the community.
