A Department of Homeland Security office in the Cleveland area was evacuated on Monday after officials found a suspicious package containing live explosives nearby.
This discovery occurred within a Brooklyn Heights office complex, leading to the evacuation of at least seven surrounding buildings.
The Cleveland Department of Homeland Security is among the agencies stationed at 925 Keynote Circle, functioning as a satellite of the larger Detroit field office, as indicated on ICE’s official website.
Other government entities share the complex, including the Office of the Chief Legal Counsel and the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations bond receiving facility. It’s still unclear whether other buildings in the area were evacuated or impacted by the situation.
Reportedly, these explosives came to light when a law enforcement K-9 alerted investigators to a suspicious package that contained a weapon. Investigators worked quickly to secure the scene, with authorities taking precautionary measures to evacuate nearby structures.
Additionally, reports noted that a nearby road was closed as part of the response to this situation.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The FBI along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is currently overseeing the investigation.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the FBI, ICE, and ATF for further details.
