Oklahoma Senate Candidate Found Dead

Barry Christian, a Republican candidate for the Oklahoma State Senate District 38, was discovered deceased at a wildlife refuge in western Oklahoma. The 54-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday, and his body was located on Thursday after authorities began searching for him following his absence from a scheduled meeting.

Christian’s truck, a charcoal gray Ram, was found parked at the entrance of the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area near the Texas border. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was informed about his disappearance by local police.

According to an announcement from the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy patrolling the area spoke to a hunter who had witnessed a vehicle crash from a ridge overlooking Fish Creek. OSBI Public Affairs Manager Hunter McKee reported that they located the vehicle in a ravine approximately 2.5 miles from the preserve and confirmed there was a body inside. However, retrieval for identification was complex due to the vehicle’s location.

“We are still trying to figure out how the vehicle ended up here and why it’s parked in this spot,” McKee said, encouraging the public to provide any tips.

In a statement, Christian’s daughter Brooklyn expressed the family’s confusion regarding his disappearance and untimely death. She requested prayers during this challenging time.

“Our world is turned upside down. We don’t fully understand everything that has happened, so we appreciate everyone treating our father’s memory with respect,” she stated, also thanking those who participated in search efforts and the media for spreading the word.

Barry Christian had previously campaigned for the position, promoting conservative values and opposing open border policies. He was noted for having support from well-known individuals, including musician Kid Rock.

The cause of death remains undetermined, as investigations are ongoing.
