Tragic Discovery: Oklahoma Republican Candidate Found Dead

Barry Christian, a 54-year-old Republican candidate for state senate in Oklahoma, was found deceased in a vehicle near a wildlife shelter close to Eric, a small town in the western part of the state, on Thursday. His body was discovered just east of the Texas Panhandle.

Reportedly, Christian had been missing since Wednesday, after he failed to show up for a scheduled meeting. The last sighting of him was in Sayre, about 25 miles away from where he was found.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Christian was actively campaigning for the state senate seat prior to his death. He had even posted an invitation for a meet-and-greet at an upcoming festival.

Christian had officially filed to run in the 38th Senate District on April 2 and described himself as a pro-Trump conservative. His stance on various issues included strong support for the First and Second Amendments and a firm opposition to open borders and abortion.

Despite his passing, Christian’s name will remain on the ballots for the Republican primary scheduled for June. Interestingly, there are other candidates in the running, as the incumbent state senator, Brent Howard, has opted not to seek re-election.

In comments following the tragic event, his daughter Brooklyn expressed the profound impact of her father’s death on their family, stating, “Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is now turned upside down. We still don’t know everything that happened, so please be civil and treat your father’s legacy with dignity.” She thanked those who assisted in the search efforts and acknowledged that many would mourn his loss.

The cause of death is still being investigated, and the OSBI is actively looking into the circumstances surrounding it. Officials have directed any inquiries to their social media channels.
