Heated Exchange on CNN’s “NewsNight”
During a recent episode of CNN’s “NewsNight,” Republican analyst Scott Jennings confronted anti-Trump influencer Adam Mokler in a tense debate.
Jennings posed a provocative question: “Who are the invaders here?”
Panelist Kat Abu-Ghazaleh responded bluntly, asserting, “We are the invaders. We started this war because, yes, it all exists.”
Jennings pressed further, questioning if the history of the United States mattered only in the context of the past eight weeks. “Against Iran? Or is it only eight weeks that exist?” he asked.
Mokler interjected, “Listen, we all know—” but Jennings cut in, insisting, “Honestly, they’ve been at war with us for 47 years.”
Mokler retorted, criticizing Jennings for advocating wars against countries like Iran, suggesting they’d only lead to increased national debt. He claimed to recall Jennings defending previous wars while Mokler was still young, pointing out that those had ended poorly.
Jennings shot back, asking, “Is eight weeks infinite for you?” Moderating the moment, Mokler replied, “Okay. They said it would take 6 weeks.”
Jennings then accused Mokler of having a “gnat’s attention span.”
Mokler tried to remind Jennings of a past debate where Jennings had predicted it would take a few more weeks to accomplish their goals, suggesting it was impossible to deny that the current war wasn’t succeeding as planned.
The exchange intensified, with Jennings declaring, “First of all, get your hands off my face!”
As tensions rose, host Abbey Phillip intervened, announcing, “Hey, hey, hey, hey. Wow, wow, wow. Sorry, everyone.”
Jennings insisted he wouldn’t allow anyone to touch him, while Phillip encouraged the panel to calm down and continue the discussion.
Mokler demanded, “Can you list the political concessions we have gained?”
Phillip acknowledged the difficulty of answering that question.
Panelist Geraldo Rivera recalled intense memories, saying, “I have flashbacks to the war that skinheads started in my studio.”
Mokler responded to Jennings’ points, urging clarification on political outcomes, while Jennings reiterated the primary objective: keeping terrorists and nuclear threats away from the U.S. and its allies.
In the end, Mokler quipped, “So you can’t answer the question,” and Jennings affirmed the objective yet again, leaving some points hanging.
