Amy Schumer Celebrates Son’s Birthday as a “Single Mom”
Amy Schumer marked her first birthday party as a “single mom” following her unexpected split from Chris Fischer. On Sunday, she shared glimpses from her son Gene David Fisher’s 7th birthday celebration with friends and family on her Instagram story.
“These women, I just had my first birthday party as a single mom,” she shared alongside a playful photo where she had pink flowers painted on her face.
In another photo, she reflected on the day, saying, “If friends are family,” as she posed with two of her close friends during the festivities.
Gene featured in numerous photos, yet Schumer opted to cover his face with an emoji. Interestingly, Fischer was not present at the party. Following a sweet image of Gene’s ninja-themed birthday cake, Schumer also posted several snapshots from their outing at the Central Park Zoo.
A representative for Schumer didn’t respond to requests for comments immediately. The comedian and Fischer married in February 2018 and welcomed Gene in May 2019.
However, in December 2025, Schumer announced their separation on social media. “Blah blah blah, Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our 7 year marriage,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Despite the separation, a source indicated that Schumer and Fischer are still living together for the sake of their son. “She expects to co-parent full-time and see Gene as much, if not more, than she does now,” the source explained.
Schumer is hopeful they can collaborate on parenting despite the end of their romantic relationship. “Amy wants Chris to be there for Gene… if they are considering another comedy tour in the future, she wants Chris to look after Gene and ideally be willing to travel with him,” the source added.
Ultimately, it seems Schumer, while embracing her role as a single mom, is navigating this new chapter with a focus on family.
