Railroad Crossing Guard in Spotlight After Playground Incident
A railroad crossing guard in Philadelphia has drawn attention for an unusual incident where he was seen enjoying ice cream while listening to a teenage suspect describe a chaotic car crash involving a stolen truck at a children’s playground.
This crossing guard, Jamel Ransom, provided a detailed account during a video that gained significant traction online. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Robert Littlepage from Douglasville, Georgia, allegedly stole a utility truck while attempting to carjack a woman, then recklessly sped down the street before colliding with a parked SUV, as Philadelphia police reported.
Along with the attempted carjacking, Littlepage is accused of jumping a curb, driving on the sidewalk, running a red light, and ultimately hitting a vehicle occupied by someone. This caused a chain reaction, impacting two additional cars, according to a local news outlet.
Reports indicate that Littlepage crashed the stolen truck into an elementary school’s grounds, overturning it, but thankfully, no students or teachers were present at the time.
Video footage, obtained by a local news outlet, captures the moment as the truck careened through an intersection, colliding with another vehicle.
Ransom described the chaotic scene, saying, “It was crazy… it was like the Matrix.” He elaborated on the events, recalling how Littlepage ran a red light and hit another vehicle while doing a spin before Ransom had to dodge flying debris.
While still eating ice cream, Ransom shared that he was on duty at the time of the crash. He recounted his quick reaction to rescue a child who was stuck in a car post-collision: “I’m going to grab the kid and get him out. He’s stuck, he’s frantic.” He expressed gratitude after the incident, saying, “Thank you, Jesus, for keeping me alive,” as he looked upwards.
Littlepage was arrested at the scene and later taken to the hospital. He now faces charges including attempted carjacking and aggravated assault. Interestingly, he had been previously arrested in April for robbery charges in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, where his case is still open due to a missed preliminary hearing.
