Footage shows police in Oxnard shooting at a man with a machete inside a Mexican restaurant.

Recently released footage shows a tense scene where Oxnard police confronted a man wielding a machete inside a restaurant, causing customers to flee in fear.

This dramatic incident took place on April 20, at the intersection of Sabier Avenue and Pleasant Valley Avenue, following reports of a man threatening people with a machete.

The suspect has been identified as Anastasio Meneses.

When police arrived, they found Meneses inside the restaurant.

Officers managed to get several patrons out safely, but two employees were still trapped inside.

Video footage captured the moment Meneses picked up a table while holding the machete and advanced towards the officers.

At that point, one officer fired, bringing Meneses down.

Shortly after, Meneses got up and lunged at the officers again, which led to further shots being fired.

Police later sent in a K-9 unit to help extract the suspect from the restaurant.

During the struggle, the dog was reportedly struck by the machete.

Eventually, Meneses was taken into custody and transported away from the scene. Thankfully, the injured police dog has since recovered and returned to work. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported.
