Israeli Advisor Discusses Peace Efforts and Hamas Compliance
Michael Eisenberg, a key adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, indicated that Israel and a newly established peace committee may “take action” against Hamas if the group fails to adhere to the agreed peace terms.
In a recent interview, Eisenberg expressed concerns that Hamas isn’t following the broader peace agreement and continues to resist disarmament efforts in Gaza. He mentioned, “I think all options are on the table because Hamas is not adhering to the 20-point plan and is not meeting the deadlines for delivering weapons. So, we’ll have to see how this unfolds. But, it’s been thoroughly considered, and much credit goes to President Trump and his team for thinking this through from all angles.”
He continued, “As President Trump noted, there are easier and harder paths. Everyone prefers the easier route, but that’s what Hamas represents—a challenge. They need to deliver the weapons with help from mediators, but there are harsher approaches available as well.”
Peace Commission Meets Amid Complex Dynamics
Eisenberg then remarked that eventually Iran must give up control over Gaza, as outlined in the 20-point plan established among the United States, Israel, and Hamas. “Hamas still has influence, but the plan stipulates they cannot be part of the government or possess weapons. For Hamas to maintain any role in Gaza, they must comply. I suggest we get this resolved sooner rather than later, though change won’t come overnight. You can’t rush a problem that’s been developing for decades,” he added.
His remarks come as various peace discussions take place throughout the Middle East. Israel is working on a deal to address concerns with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, while the U.S. engages in talks with Iran.
Israel’s Goals in the Iran Negotiations
Netanyahu stated recently that Israel and the U.S. maintain a “fully aligned” stance as negotiations proceed. “Our primary goal is to eliminate all uranium enrichment and dismantle Iran’s enrichment capabilities,” he emphasized at a security cabinet meeting.
Former Israeli National Security Adviser Yaakov Amidrow noted that Israel’s position regarding the nuclear issue remains unyielding. “All weaponized uranium must be removed from Iran. We cannot permit them to enrich uranium,” he stated.
Analysts in Israel suggest that beyond nuclear concerns, Iran’s ballistic missile program also significantly impacts Israel’s security priorities.
