Dana White remembers strange encounter with Warriors owner who attempted to "Unzip" his Celtics hoodie

Dana White Reflects on NBA Experience

Dana White still seems astonished by how the Golden State Warriors’ majority owner reacted when he attended a game in Boston Celtics gear.

While speaking on the “Katie Miller Podcast,” he was asked to name the most discourteous celebrity he’s encountered. Initially, he mentioned P.Diddy but quickly recalled a specific incident that left a lasting impression on him.

White recounted a game where he, loyal to his Boston roots, wore a Celtics hoodie. He remembered sitting near the Warriors’ owner—who many believe to be billionaire Joe Lacob—when the owner approached him. “I was wearing my Celtics hoodie, and he walked up and said something like, ‘Are you serious about that hoodie?'” White shared.

The interaction took an interesting turn as the owner attempted to unzip White’s hoodie. While it appeared lighthearted, Dana mentioned that the owner’s wife teased him about her championship ring. Still, he thought it was just competitive banter given the teams’ rivalry.

Things shifted dramatically at halftime. White claimed this was when he realized the owner was not joking. His friend, Ari Emanuel, conveyed the news that Dana wouldn’t be allowed back to his courtside seat with the hoodie on. “I joked about being left with my stale pretzels and bad beer during halftime. I told them I wasn’t taking off my Celtics hoodie,” he said.

As for the Warriors’ public relations team, they have yet to comment on White’s experience or any rules concerning fan apparel in VIP sections.
