Oregon State Police Make Arrests in Shooting Incident

Oregon State Police have apprehended two individuals linked to the shooting death of Marcio Garcia, a father who was shot in the head after leaving an In-N-Out drive-thru with his family.

Ethan Adrian Armenta Lagunas, 20, and Gabriel “Alex” Javier, 18, both from Salem, were arrested on Wednesday. They face several charges, including first-degree assault, unlawful weapon usage, and recklessly endangering another person, all related to the February 9 incident.

According to reports from the Kaiser Police Department, multiple firearms were discovered in Armenta-Lagunas’ residence. Javier was taken into custody later that same day. Meanwhile, authorities are still pursuing a third suspect, 22-year-old Anthony Taylor Manriquez, who is deemed armed and dangerous.

Garcia, 28, was in a car with his wife and two young children, aged 2 and 7, when gunfire erupted near the fast-food chain. The bullet shattered the car window, hitting Garcia in the head. Thankfully, his wife and children were unharmed.

His wife described his strength in an online fundraiser post, saying, “In the midst of chaos and fear, he somehow found the strength to get us from the scene to safety, even though he was injured and in pain. He protected our family before he thought about himself. That’s the kind of man and father he is.” She shared that a bullet was removed from his head during surgery and that, fortunately, he did not suffer major brain damage and is now recovering at home.

She conveyed her relief with, “The doctors told us what we already believed. This is truly a miracle. He now faces a long road of rest, healing, and recovery.”
