Vance: Trump’s Support for Paxton Sends a Clear Message–Help the People Who Elected You

Texas Senate Survey: Ken Paxton Ahead of John Cornyn Before GOP Runoff

Vance on Trump’s Endorsement of Paxton

Vice President J.D. Vance shared with Breitbart News correspondent Nick Gilbertson that President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton conveys a strong message: lawmakers need to prioritize the people who elected them.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Gilbertson, who was in the new media area, asked Vance about Trump’s endorsement of Paxton in his race against Sen. John Cornyn (Republican). Although Vance acknowledged his long-standing acquaintance with Cornyn, he emphasized Paxton’s loyalty to both the country and to Trump.

“Today, we saw the president endorse Ken Paxton over John Cornyn in the Texas Senate race,” Gilbertson posed. “Do you think this sends a message to senators contemplating re-election or to MAGA-aligned candidates thinking of challenging them?”

“The president is pleased with the support from voters who care deeply about Ken Paxton and our base,” Vance responded. “We believe Ken Paxton would excel as a senator for Texas, but more importantly, he has the potential to collaborate effectively on our nation’s challenges. I’ve known John Cornyn for quite some time, and let’s be honest—when it counted, Ken Paxton was there for the country and the president. That’s why he earned the president’s backing.”

Vance elaborated that Trump believes Paxton would be a more effective senator. He noted that throughout Trump’s leadership of the Republican Party, he has not forgotten the individuals fighting for good—those who supported him and will go to Washington to represent the people’s interests.

“I think one aspect we’ve seen within the Republican Party is that, while no member is flawless, there has been an influx of strong talent in Washington since Donald Trump became our leader,” Vance explained. “I believe this trend will continue. The key takeaway here is that representatives must serve those who elected them. Failing to do so could lead to being out of touch with voters and, frankly, with the president, which isn’t a great political situation.”

Vance’s remarks came after Trump endorsed Paxton as “America’s first patriot” and acknowledged his unwavering loyalty. On Truth Social, Trump further proclaimed, “Ken is a true MAGA warrior who has always served Texas and will continue to do so in the United States Senate.”
