Wisconsin Man Accused of Killing Wife and Proposing with Her Ring

A man in Wisconsin is facing serious charges after allegedly murdering his wife, disposing of her body, and even updating his Facebook status to “widow.” Authorities allege that he used her wedding ring to propose to someone he met on Tinder.

Aaron Nelson, 43, was taken into custody last Friday in connection with the mysterious disappearance and presumed death of his wife, Alexis Nelson. It’s been over a year since Alexis went missing, and her body has not been located. This information comes from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

The couple was last seen together on surveillance cameras at a KwikTrip convenience store on March 29, 2025, where they lived in Beaver Dam, according to court documents. Reports indicate.

Following her disappearance, Alexis’s phone records show she moved about 30 miles away to Sun Prairie. Shortly afterward, Aaron allegedly bought a large 32-gallon trash can.

Just days later, he reportedly created a new Facebook account under the name “James Nelson,” indicating he was now widowed. This was reported by WISC.

Furthermore, prosecutors allege that by April 30, 2025, Aaron had met a new girlfriend on Tinder, who later revealed to investigators that they were living together by the end of May.

When police interviewed Aaron’s new partner, they noticed she was wearing an engagement ring that was confirmed to have belonged to Alexis.

In June, a 32-gallon trash can was discovered at the home of the new couple. Following that, it was found that Aaron tested positive for blood, and a cadaver dog on the property detected the scent of decomposing human remains.

Though Alexis’s body remains missing, Aaron Nelson was arrested last week and now faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and concealing a corpse.

He has been booked into the Dodge County Jail with a cash bail set at $1 million, according to court records. Aaron is set to appear in court again on May 28.
