Vice President Encourages UK Protesters Against Immigration Policies
US Vice President JD Vance has urged British citizens protesting against long-standing government policies promoting large-scale immigration to “just keep going.” He emphasized that it’s “okay” to desire a safe and culturally uniform place to live.
Vance stepped in for press secretary Caroline Leavitt during a briefing at the White House on Tuesday while she is on maternity leave, addressing a variety of topics and the recent Kingdom Unity rally, according to Breitbart News.
This rally, organized by veteran activist Tommy Robinson, aimed to defend free speech, civil liberties, and a unified British identity that encompasses England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
In response to concerns raised about “large-scale illegal immigration and the erosion of British culture,” Vance encouraged those who oppose the norm of a business-led government that lowers wages through quantitative easing to continue their fight.
“One issue facing Western society is the belief among some, including Wall Street financiers and government officials, that cheap labor is essential for progress. Here at the White House, we believe the focus should be on increasing wages for American workers and investing in our citizens,” Vance stated.
He added, “It’s somewhat absurd that prosperity is often linked to unvetted immigration into local neighborhoods, and we firmly reject that perspective. So for those in the UK who oppose it, I encourage you to keep pushing forward.”
For a long time, expressing concern about mass immigration has been labeled as simple racism. Despite public opinion against it being reflected in election results, Britain has been subjected to this immigration policy for decades.
During their long tenure, the Conservative government attempted to address public worries during election times but ultimately maintained open borders without real regard for voters’ concerns.
Now, under Keir Starmer’s centre-left Labor Party, proponents of deportation programs are often dismissed as extremists threatening societal stability, albeit with a different approach to the population.
Vice President Vance encouraged Brits to remain steadfast amid criticism on these crucial issues, reassuring them:
“It’s entirely reasonable to want to safeguard your culture and live in safe neighborhoods. Naturally, people desire to see their work done by themselves and their community members rather than by strangers. Many in Western societies want to exercise control over who enters their country,” he remarked.
He continued, “Many media figures attempt to convince the public that securing borders is somehow racist, even though it’s low-income Black and Hispanic Americans in the U.S. who feel the impacts of low-wage immigration the most. I can assure you this holds true in the UK as well.”
Vance concluded by asserting that making America great again hinges on protecting borders and invited his UK counterparts to pursue similar paths.
The Vice President’s comments are part of a broader pattern of statements aimed at boosting the spirits of European conservatives and sovereignty advocates since he began his role under President Donald Trump.
Notably, he made headlines during a speech at the Munich Security Conference in February 2025, where he criticized the increasingly illiberal tendencies of European leaders, asserting, “If you’re fearful of your own voters while in office, there’s little that America can do for you—or the American people.”
