Ex-McDonald’s Manager Faces Prison Time for Viral Video
A former McDonald’s manager is potentially heading to prison after allegedly sharing a video online that shows him contaminating fries.
Kaylee Santos, just 22 years old, is from Southbridge, Massachusetts. He was arrested following the viral post featuring two employees involved in the supposed act.
The footage, which quickly gained attention on Facebook, reportedly depicted Santos eating fries and then placing them back into a container.
According to investigators, Santos had a specific target in mind: his ex-girlfriend, who was using the drive-thru on April 8 when the incident occurred. In the video, he was heard saying, “She wants fries today, right?”
Authorities managed to obtain video from the restaurant’s surveillance system, which allegedly captured Santos spitting on a carton of fries.
In an interview, the alleged victim mentioned she had only ordered drinks but received a bag of fries from Santos. She consumed them without a second thought. She further claimed that Santos had been harassing her and her new partner.
Now, Santos is charged with distributing food “containing a foreign substance intended or reasonably expected to cause injury.”
Investigators tracked the victim down by searching for a particular license plate visible in the drive-thru footage.
This video reportedly accumulated tens of thousands of views, as noted by WBZ TV.
In response to the incident, the owners of the restaurant stated they are cooperating with law enforcement and have issued a trespass notice against Santos.
They emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and do not align with their food safety standards. The safety of the Southbridge community is their top concern, and they are taking appropriate measures.
For context, a McDonald’s manager typically earns about $48,000 annually, with general managers potentially making up to $90,000 in that area.
Interestingly, a recent poll has also shown that McDonald’s French fries outshine the competition when it comes to popularity among fast food options.
