Democratic Senators Threaten to Expel Texas Candidate Over Anti-Semitic Remarks

Two Democratic senators have made it clear that if Texas voters favor a certain candidate this November, they will strive to initiate a vote for her expulsion from Congress.

Representatives Jared Moskowitz and Josh Gottheimer stated their commitment to removing Texas Democrat Maureen Galindo from the House, following her provocative comments advocating for the imprisonment of “American Zionists.”

Galindo, a sex therapist campaigning in a predominantly Republican district, seems unfazed by her controversial proposals to convert local ICE centers into “prisons for American Zionists and former ICE agents involved in human trafficking.” Disturbingly, she has also suggested on social media that many Zionists—who are generally identified as supporters of Jewish self-determination in their ancestral homeland—are pedophiles deserving of severe punishment.

Moskowitz didn’t hold back: “I don’t care if she gets sent here. I voted to expel her and I’m going to push for that vote every day,” he told Fox News Digital.

Rising Concerns Over Anti-Semitism

As anti-Semitism becomes a more pressing issue, Senator John Fetterman remarked on the need for the Democrats to respond urgently, especially after a recent incident near a New York City synagogue. He shared a personal connection, stating, “My grandmother was part of the Kindertransport from Germany. Her parents were killed at Auschwitz. My children will never go to a concentration camp.”

Despite numerous requests, Galindo’s campaign has not provided any commentary.

Despite her inflammatory remarks, Galindo is currently leading in votes from the Democratic primary in her San Antonio-based district and is set to enter a runoff. Although Republicans have redrawn district lines this year to try to flip seats, it’s still possible for Democrats to remain competitive.

Galindo accused her runoff opponent, Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnny Garcia, of receiving compensation from “Zionist terror and human trafficking.” Just last week, her campaign posted on social media that if she reaches Congress, she would propose legislation deeming all support for Zionism as anti-Semitic, arguing it is Zionists who pose harm to Jews.

Moskowitz emphasized that Democrats need to do everything possible to stop Galindo from gaining that opportunity.

Mainstreaming Anti-Semitism?

He expressed that “Democrats can’t be in power with this type of outrageous behavior” and noted, “Anti-Semitism has shifted from the fringes to becoming almost mainstream. We’ve crossed a line.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also called Galindo’s remarks “disqualifying,” alleging that Republican groups are attempting to bolster her campaign.

He stated, “Texans will not be fooled and will reject her at the polls.” This sentiment was echoed by both Moskowitz and Gottheimer, who pointed out that Galindo’s comments highlight a larger trend of rising anti-Semitism across the political spectrum.

Gottheimer emphasized that both parties must have a firm stand against the anti-Semitic hatred that seems to be increasing, suggesting that Republicans need to denounce figures like Candace Owens, who frequently promotes anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

In early May, he called out some party members for their connections to Hasan Piker, a far-left streamer known for controversial statements, including downplaying violence during a recent attack.

Despite the controversies, some prominent Democrats, such as Rep. Ro Khanna and Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, continue to align themselves with Piker.

When questioned if the Democratic Party is adequately addressing anti-Semitism within its ranks, Moskowitz was straightforward: “No, we’re not doing enough.”
