Death of Kosher Bakery Owner Ruled a Homicide
New York City police have classified the death of a kosher bakery owner as a homicide. Albert Itzkowitz, aged 75, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds near Lake Kissena just before 5 p.m. on Monday. Authorities announced the ruling on Thursday.
A police spokesperson indicated that no arrests have been made yet. It remains uncertain how long Itzkowitz had been at the location prior to the discovery.
Crime Stoppers is currently offering a reward of up to $3,500 for any information that could assist in solving the murder.
As reported by yeshiva world news, Itzkowitz was the proprietor of G&I Bakery on Main Street until its closure. Adding to the tragedy, his wife passed away just three weeks prior, although the cause of her death has not been disclosed.
Councilman James Gennaro expressed his dismay over Itzkowitz’s death, stating he was “deeply saddened and horrified” by the event. He highlighted the need for safety in public places, emphasizing that no one should feel unsafe in their neighborhoods or parks. Gennaro has been in touch with high-ranking members of the NYPD to ensure all resources are focused on this case.
