Knicks' Josh Hart shares a funny comparison about statistics after his best game

Josh Hart’s Playoff Performance and Humorous Insights

The New York Knicks’ small forward, Josh Hart, showed off his scoring skills in a recent game and during a press conference. In the team’s 109-93 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Hart achieved a playoff career-high by scoring 26 points.

When asked to share his thoughts on the game, Hart responded with humor. “I’ve never been good at analysis. At a certain point, analysis is like a lamppost for a drunk person. You can rely on it, but it doesn’t get you home,” he quipped, drawing laughter from the room.

Following his joke, Hart emphasized the importance of feeling the game. This light-hearted moment caught the attention of his teammate, Karl-Anthony Towns, who seemed amused yet puzzled.

“Oh my god, absolutely,” Towns replied, and Hart went on to credit the saying to his former coach at Villanova, using his full name, Jerrold Wright: “This is Jerrold Wright, his famous quote, I’m not going to lie. Shout out Jay Wright.” Towns, wanting to share the spotlight, opted to cancel the press conference to focus on Hart’s analogy.

As the banter continued, Hart jokingly remarked on the concept of analysis, and Towns playfully noted he hadn’t heard such wisdom while studying under his own college coach. “I didn’t hear anything like that because I was with (Kentucky coach John Calipari),” Towns stated. Hart couldn’t resist the chance to tease, saying, “You didn’t even go to college,” which elicited laughter from Towns.

Hart’s performance in Game 1 had him struggling, managing just 13 points with a poor three-point shooting record. However, he turned things around in Game 2, leading his team with five successful three-pointers out of 11 attempts. The Cavaliers had planned for Hart’s scoring but ended up on the losing side against his improved game.

Looking ahead, Hart is optimistic as the Knicks prepare for Game 3 on Saturday, where he hopes they’ll maintain their momentum and push for a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
