Three Charged with Murder After Grizzly Find in Texas
Authorities in Texas have charged three individuals with murder following a horrific discovery at a home. Reports indicate that the police were tipped off about a possible murder on May 11 when someone contacted the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.
The call led deputies to conduct a welfare check at the residence of 43-year-old Sandra Ramos. Upon arrival, they noticed a double-wide trailer with covered windows and some unique features, like a dug ditch behind the house. There were also a few RV spaces on the property.
When officers knocked on the door, no one responded. So, they attempted to reach out to Ramos by phone, and he agreed to meet them but ultimately didn’t show up.
Investigators then interviewed Victor Esparza, 31, the person who initially reported the incident. However, his story seemed a bit jumbled and lacked consistency, raising some suspicions.
During the interview, Esparza handed over a cellphone he claimed belonged to Ramos, along with a recording of a conversation involving another suspect. He mentioned that the victim was dealing with financial issues before the incident.
Esparza explained that Ramos picked him and the victim up from a hotel and took them to a location where drugs were being used. He alleged that Ramos contacted another suspect over FaceTime to discuss the attack on the victim. Soon after, the second suspect appeared, wearing a bandana and sunglasses.
As per Esparza’s claims, Ramos was armed with a handgun and threatened the victim while the other suspect attacked him with a baseball bat. He recounted that Ramos assaulted and stabbed the victim, and ultimately placed the body in a large storage container. Esparza stated that Ramos also forced her to change clothes at gunpoint before attempting to dismember the victim.
Interestingly, another witness provided a different account, suggesting that Esparza was the one who assaulted the victim, even stomping on her until she lost consciousness. This witness claimed that both Esparza and Ramos were involved in strangling the victim.
On May 12, police returned to the home and found a locked door. They managed to enter the room, where they discovered a rolling storage box. There, they found the dismembered body of an adult male. The affidavit notes that both Ramos and the second suspect intentionally killed the victim through various means, including gunfire, stabbing, and dismemberment.
Following these revelations, Ramos was arrested on May 12, while Esparza was taken into custody a day later. Both were charged with first-degree murder, and their bail was set at $2 million.
Another suspect, 49-year-old Jose Luis Garcia Grimaldo, was arrested on May 14. He disclosed to detectives that he had confronted the victim, Victor Nunez, hitting him multiple times with a baseball bat. Grimaldo insisted that the victim was alive when he left the scene. He now faces charges of second-degree felonies for murder and aggravated assault, currently held on a $2.25 million bail.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities have not provided further comments as of yet.
