Trump Honors Sacrifices on Memorial Day

President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude for those who have made the “ultimate sacrifice” in his Memorial Day message, while also addressing Democrats he feels have disrespected the military.

In a post on Truth Social Monday morning, Trump said, “Happy Memorial Day to everyone, including those Democrats who have disrespected our military and its tremendous successes over the last year.” He concluded with a heartfelt, “God bless those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We love you all!”

Members of Trump’s cabinet also shared their reflections for the day. Tulsi Gabbard, the national intelligence director, expressed her sadness on X, remembering fellow service members who didn’t come home. She emphasized, “We honor their ultimate sacrifice by upholding the principles that unite us as Americans, defending our God-given freedoms, and always striving for peace. Never forget.”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth remarked, “There is no greater love than that which a man lays down his life for his friends,” urging Americans to honor the memories of those who made such sacrifices.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent added, “On Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives to protect our country. Their sacrifice is the highest form of service to America.” He highlighted the importance of remembering Gold Star families, saying, “The American people’s gratitude will endure and their memory will forever remain in the heart of this nation.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “America was built, defended, and sustained by men and women willing to give their all for it,” ensuring that sacrifices made for the nation will never be forgotten.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum noted how many Americans were coming together at national parks to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, remarking that their legacy lives on in the freedoms enjoyed today.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins shared a verse from Joshua 1:9, expressing gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of those who serve. She concluded her message with, “God bless our heroes and the United States of America ❤️.”

Additionally, Trump’s White House shared a brief video capturing the essence of Memorial Day.
