Border Arrest: 75-Year-Old Implicated in Drug Seizure
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have arrested a 75-year-old American citizen at the border as he was trying to enter the United States. This operation took place at the Juarez Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, Texas. Authorities found several packages of suspected illegal drugs in his vehicle, specifically a 2011 Volvo XC60.
Federal agents noted that the vigilance displayed by local law enforcement remains essential in combating drug trafficking and enhancing border security. Following a secondary inspection, which involved a canine unit and non-invasive testing methods, agents discovered 14 packages containing roughly 33 pounds of suspected cocaine along with 288 grams of ketamine.
CBP estimates that the street value of the confiscated narcotics stands at around $455,822. The suspect was detained, and both the vehicle and the drugs were seized. The Department of Homeland Security is currently looking into the incident.
Alberto Flores, the Director of the Laredo Port of Entry, commented on the incident, emphasizing the commitment to protecting communities from dangerous substances and illegal activities. He reiterated that the efforts of law enforcement officers are vital in securing borders and preventing drugs from reaching urban areas.
CBP also acknowledged the contributions of President Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, and officers for their roles in curtailing illegal actions and facilitating lawful crossings at the southern border.
