Police in Paris detain more than 100 individuals following PSG's Champions League victory.

After Paris Saint-Germain claimed their second straight Champions League title, celebrations among fans quickly escalated.

In response to the situation following PSG’s dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Arsenal on Saturday, thousands of police were deployed throughout Paris.

By 11 p.m. local time, authorities had used tear gas and made over 130 arrests in various areas across France, as reported by a news outlet.

“Our responsibility is to ensure a peaceful and completely safe celebration for everyone,” a police spokesperson noted.

According to reports, the unrest resulted in damage to six vehicles and two stores.

Outside the Parc de Princes stadium, where more than 40,000 fans gathered to watch the match on massive screens, tensions flared.

Some fans directed fireworks at police near the Arc de Triomphe, prompting a tear gas response.

There were indications of smoke rising in multiple locations during the disturbances, and police had to disperse crowds blocking main areas of Paris.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez emphasized that authorities had established “very strong and very robust systems in place” to mitigate violence.

To prevent incidents similar to last year—when two deaths and nearly 200 injuries occurred after a match—around 22,000 police were mobilized in the city.

The match itself concluded in a 1-1 draw after extra time, with PSG winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout, securing their second consecutive title.

“It’s unbelievable,” captain Marquinhos expressed to the media. “From day one this season, the coach said it’s hard to win, and even harder to win twice, so we all had to get back to work. That was the mentality.”
