Trump Responds to Health Critics Ahead of 80th Birthday

As he approaches his 80th birthday in just two weeks, former President Donald Trump has fired back at those questioning his health and mental sharpness. In his characteristic style, he referred to his critics as “Democrats” in a recent post on Truth Social.

Trump suggested that “everyone running for president and vice president should be forced to take a highly difficult cognitive test,” urging Congress and Democrats to follow through on this idea.

It’s notable that Trump is poised to become the second president to assume office at age 80, following Joe Biden.

Highlighting Cognitive Evaluations

In his message, Trump noted that the results from his recent medical exam at Walter Reed Military Medical Center were “very positive.” He proudly mentioned his perfect score of 30 out of 30 on a cognitive test, asserting that this reflects “extremely high intelligence.” He even questioned if Democrats were surprised by this outcome.

Unlike Biden, who will be the oldest president to leave office at 82, Trump often highlights his cognitive test scores during his campaign rallies.

Positive Health Report Released

On Friday, the White House shared a memo from Trump’s personal physician, Capt. Sean P. Barbavera, outlining the findings from his annual medical exam conducted on May 26. The report, which included various diagnostic studies and consultations with specialists, stated that Trump “continues to be in good health” with positive assessments of his cardiac and neurological functions.

According to the doctor, Trump’s active daily routine supports his overall health. Barbavera emphasized that Trump’s cognitive and physical capabilities are “excellent,” making him well-suited for his presidential responsibilities.

Neurological Tests Yield Favorable Results

The memo confirmed that Trump’s neurological examination showed normal results across a range of factors, including his mental status and physical reflexes. He completed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, achieving a perfect score again. Trump noted, “This is the fourth time I’ve taken a test like this, and it’s all PERFECT – 120 out of 120 correct!”

However, while the report indicated normal results for tests regarding depression and anxiety, it also mentioned slight swelling in his lower legs and some bruising on his hands. Doctors attributed these issues to mild inflammation resulting from frequent handshaking while he takes aspirin for cardiovascular prevention, labeling the bruises as common and benign.

Overall, Trump’s test results were deemed to be generally within normal limits, including various cholesterol levels and blood sugar readings.

Currently, Trump is on medications for cholesterol management and heart protection.
