Doug Ellin Critiques Los Angeles’ Decline

Doug Ellin, the creator of the hit show Entourage, recently expressed his frustration over the deteriorating state of Los Angeles, stating that he no longer feels safe. His comments came as he publicly backed Spencer Pratt’s run for mayor.

In a video shared on social media, Ellin remarked, “This city has fallen apart over the last five years. It’s hard to deny that, unless there’s some kind of agenda behind it. But I’m not even sure what that might be.” He questioned critiques of Pratt, saying, “People say he lacks experience. But what kind of experience did Karen Bass really have?”

Reflecting on his experiences, Ellin mentioned a robbery at his Beverly Hills home last year, which led him to take significant security measures. He noted that now he relies on 15 cameras, two German shepherds, and three firearms, a far cry from the days when he would leave his door unlocked.

Ellin was critical of statistics regarding crime rates, emphasizing that many in his neighborhood also feel unsafe and are taking their own protective measures. He pointed to a recent article from the Los Angeles Times that reported low murder and violent crime rates, indicating that he disagreed with the paper’s conclusions.

Despite previously beautifying the city, Ellin stated it’s time for action: “We’ve got to fix this place.” He believes that Pratt is uniquely positioned to address crime and homelessness effectively, pledging to clean up the city and reconsider taxpayer-funded programs he sees as ineffective.

As Pratt faces off against Mayor Karen Bass and City Council member Nitya Raman in the upcoming election, Ellin’s vocal support underscores a growing concern among residents. Polls indicate Pratt is gaining ground, showing a tight race with about 30.1% support for Pratt compared to 29.5% for Bass.

Voter sentiments often focus on homelessness and affordability, suggesting that these issues resonate strongly as the primary approaches.
