Fetterman promises to 'dress in a suit daily' if Platner shares messages with unknown women

Fetterman Criticizes Platner Amid Controversy

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has sharply criticized fellow Senate candidate Graham Platner, who faces backlash over past controversial remarks. Fetterman has called on Platner to disclose messages tied to the Kick account that has stirred up trouble in the Maine Senate race.

Platner (D-Maine) stands accused of sending explicit messages to several women via the messaging platform Kick. In response, Fetterman has humorously derided Platner’s online persona, referring to him as “pHustle” and calling him a “freak.” Things escalated further when Pennsylvania Democrats offered a rather unusual compromise: Platner would release full logs of his messages if Fetterman agreed to “wear a suit every day” in the Senate.

“This guy criticized my attire but didn’t seem to mind posing in a towel on a site known for such issues,” Fetterman remarked.

“Let’s make a deal. If he releases all the texts and messages he’s received, I’ll wear a suit every day… [What about a dozen women?] What is America? Can pHustle verify the ages of those involved?” he questioned.

Platner’s team claims he has deleted the Kik app from his phone but has not deactivated his account. This issue has added to the mounting controversies surrounding him. His account, which dates back to June 2016, is linked to old Reddit and Instagram profiles that still show images of him shirtless.

Fetterman has also expressed worries regarding age verification measures on anonymous messaging platforms. On the other hand, Platner has argued that the logs should be made public if there’s nothing to hide.

This back-and-forth follows Fetterman’s earlier comments, where he asserted he would not “carry water” for Platner. He drew parallels between this situation and previous political scandals involving explicit messages, questioning why some within the party still support Platner.

“As a Democrat, I will never support a man who disrespects American heroes or tarnishes the name of Chris Kyle,” Fetterman asserted during a speech, emphasizing the multitude of offensive statements Platner has made.

Fetterman’s stance marks a notable divergence from party leaders who have quietly backed Platner as the primary approaches, likely aiming to protect a crucial Senate seat.

“I’m never going to back a person who disparages an American hero or makes offensive remarks consistently,” Fetterman reiterated.

As of now, Platner’s campaign has not addressed requests for comment.
