Norway’s Viking-themed World Cup team photo may be the best team photo ever taken

Norway's Viking-themed World Cup team photo may be the best team photo ever taken

U.S. Men’s National Team Ready for World Cup

On “America Report,” FOX News Chief Correspondent Jonathan Hunt discussed preparations for the World Cup with Alex Freeman, who is the youngest member of the men’s national team.

It seems that the Norwegian team is gearing up for the World Cup with a bit of flair, reminiscent of the Vikings from ages past. They adorned themselves in outfits that give off a Viking vibe, as if they just walked off the set of a historical drama.

The well-known British photographer David Yarrow captured this unique moment. He expressed that he enjoys stepping outside the norms of conventional photography. Yarrow, speaking to The Athletic, explained, “We anticipated some critique, but we aimed to evoke the idea of a Viking journey across the seas.”

Honestly, anyone who takes issue with this creative approach has a peculiar sense of judgment.

Take a look at Erling Haaland, for instance. The Manchester City striker embodies the Viking aesthetic. Clad in traditional attire, he holds a sword and shield, almost as if ready for battle.

The caption associated with Yarrow’s image read, “Norway is coming,” highlighting his collaboration with the Norwegian soccer team’s official Instagram. For Norway, this is significant as it marks their return to the World Cup after 28 years, and it’s only their fourth time competing in this elite tournament.

When comparing this team photo to France’s in Group I, the creativity of the Norwegian shoot stands out sharply. Norway projects an image that’s both formidable and imaginative, whereas France’s looks somewhat drab and awkward.

Seriously, what happened to Rayan Cherki? The Manchester City midfielder appears to have overdosed on something—let’s just say the result isn’t flattering. I don’t get how that image made it to publication.

In my view, this team photo is brilliantly executed. It might even surpass Yarrow’s previous American projects featuring European Ryder Cup teams, which poignantly highlighted the contributions of Europeans to New York. This photo is striking, capturing a complex narrative that resonates with viewers.

Norway will kick off its World Cup campaign against Iraq on June 16 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
