Madonna Faces Criticism at New York Pride Concert

Pop icon Madonna found herself the target of harsh criticism during a Pride concert in Times Square on Thursday. One user on X (formerly Twitter) exclaimed, “She needs to be institutionalized!” Another user raised the question, “At 67 years old, is it time for Madonna to retire?” while sharing clips from her performance.

Madonna made a surprise appearance to kick off Pride Month, collaborating with the gay dating app Grindr for the event. Social media users quickly began mocking her performance, with many suggesting that perhaps it might be time for her to step away from the spotlight.

One user commented, “I think her audience these days is mainly foreigners, psychopaths, and the LGBTQ community.” Another user defended her, stating, “She’s carrying out her legacy.” However, others were less forgiving, with one person stating that “Madonna hasn’t been great or relevant since the 1980s.” Another remarked simply, “zero class,” while yet another made a joke about the situation, saying, “I thought it was my drunk mother on the run again.”

Some users expressed bemusement at her efforts on stage. “It took her a long time to get her feet up on that wall, I know,” one commented. “I’m her age and don’t have two fake hips, but I can tell it takes some serious effort. I need to know when to stop.” Another user humorously wondered, “What will we see next? Madonna’s old man’s legs hanging from a walker?”

Another person mused about whether Madonna could redefine aging in the music industry, comparing her to Rod Stewart: “I was wondering if Madonna would break the aging mold and become a classy aging singer.” Yet another user declared in frustration, “What the heck is she wrong? This wasn’t the only peculiar display from Madonna to launch Pride Month. Earlier in the week, she posted a strange video of herself crawling on all fours in front of a bathroom while smoking a cigarette and exposing herself, adding another layer of controversy to her recent antics.
