Iran strikes Gulf countries with missiles following Trump's assertion that Tehran requested him to halt US airstrikes

Iran Launches Missile Attacks on U.S. Allies

In a notable escalation, Iran launched a series of missile strikes targeting Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait early Thursday. This action followed a recent airstrike by the U.S. military aimed at countering what they deemed “unwarranted and continued aggression” from Tehran.

Kuwait restricted its airspace for several hours following the attacks, though specific details regarding damage remain unclear. Jordan reported successfully intercepting 20 Iranian missiles aimed at a region with a U.S. military presence, thankfully resulting in no reported injuries.

According to Bahrain’s interior ministry, there was an injury to an 11-year-old girl and some damage to a car and house due to shrapnel from one of the intercepted missiles.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) noted that the missile strikes, which lasted about four hours, targeted various military capabilities of the Iranian regime, including surveillance and air defense systems.

While there has been no detailed information about the specific damage resulting from U.S. strikes in Iran, explosions were reported in the capital, Tehran, and other areas along the Strait of Hormuz, like Bandar Abbas. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards later claimed that the attacks hit several key locations, including military barracks and production facilities in and around Tehran.

In comments made during the ongoing military operations, President Trump stated that 49 Tomahawk missiles had been deployed at specific Iranian targets, and that American warplanes were involved in destroying radar and defense systems in the Persian Gulf region.

Trump claimed that Iranian officials made a direct appeal to him to cease the bombings while he was monitoring the situation from the White House Situation Room, adding a stark warning: he would “bomb them tomorrow night” if Iran did not comply with a U.S. peace proposal.
