Authorities are currently on the lookout for an audacious vandal who glued almost 200 doors shut at a San Diego high school, just days before finals week.
Recently released security footage reveals the individual at Patrick Henry High School, performing the act on May 26th. According to the San Diego Unified School District Police, the clip shows the suspect dedicating nearly two hours to pouring glue into the keyholes between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
“I walked in and saw a lot of teachers around. They were doing, well, I’m not exactly sure what they were doing, but there were a bunch of them trying to pick locks,” mentioned Christopher Guzman, a student at Patrick Henry.
The video captures a man in a hooded sweatshirt with a prominent “B” on the chest, hiding his face from view.
“While senior pranks are pretty common, they tend to be more playful, funny, and clever—not something that leads to $70,000 in damages,” commented Sergeant Roberto Bonilla from the San Diego Unified Police Department.
San Diego County Crime Stoppers, a nonprofit group assisting with serious crime investigations, is urging anyone with information to come forward, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for leads that lead to an arrest.
Authorities have noted that the suspect was driving a sedan from the years 2010 to 2020, equipped with tinted windows.
If anyone has details regarding the suspect, they are encouraged to reach out via Crime Stoppers or contact the SDUSDPD at (619) 291-7678.
