Democrats urge for the end of ICE as 146,000 missing migrant children are discovered

Missing Migrant Children and Political Controversy

Recently, the Department of Homeland Security disclosed that since President Biden took office, they’ve located 146,000 missing migrant children. Instead of celebrating this achievement, however, many Democrats are advocating for cuts to the very programs that aid in rescuing these children.

Across the nation, there’s a growing call among Democrats to abolish ICE—Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement—an agency integral to finding missing immigrant children who have often faced trafficking and abuse. Meanwhile, there remain over 150,000 children still unaccounted for.

To grasp the scope, 150,000 missing children is comparable to the entire population of a city like Charleston, South Carolina. It’s alarming—unless you, perhaps, value the rights of foreign criminals over the safety of these trafficked kids. Clearly, this is a significant crisis.

Take, for instance, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. During an appearance on the Fox News Channel, he pondered the feasibility of eliminating ICE. He asserted, with surprising nonchalance, that immigration laws are merely civil infractions, akin to receiving a parking ticket. This thinking raises eyebrows, to say the least.

Let’s be frank: for some Democrats, the plight of child trafficking seems to be trivialized. It’s as if they believe the matter isn’t deserving of serious concern, viewing the federal government’s efforts to find these children as somewhat on par with routine, mundane tasks.

Initially, one might struggle to comprehend why a major political party would adopt the abolition of ICE as a key stance, especially given its detrimental impact on children. Yet, there are a couple of factors that might shed light on this alarming stance.

First off, acknowledging the existence of tens of thousands of missing children would highlight the troubling consequences of Biden’s open border policies. It doesn’t quite align with a party that previously condemned false accusations about children in cages but chooses to ignore those in far worse circumstances.

Secondly, discussing the harsh realities faced by these children often contradicts the Democratic narrative that insists mass immigration is solely beneficial, dismissing any opposition as rooted in racism.

Democrats frequently advocate for undocumented immigrants, portraying them as tax-payers who are simply seeking a better life. Yet, they remain conspicuously quiet when those very policies contribute to vast numbers of children going missing.

Many Democratic leaders appear to hold the view that not only should ICE avoid searching for these children, but that there should be no search efforts at all.

In contrast, the Trump administration takes a different approach. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin expressed this clearly, questioning the rationale of those who oppose law enforcement efforts to recover these vulnerable children.

In an ideal scenario, the essence of Mullin’s remarks would be evident to everyone. Yet, in a landscape influenced by some radical ideologies, kids in these situations take a back seat to broader agendas.

So far, the Trump administration has managed to keep a level head regarding progress on locating these children, but maybe there’s a case for amplifying these important stories while ensuring their dignity and privacy.

It’s time for Republicans to define the Democratic Party’s “ICE repeal” proposal truthfully. It represents not just a misguided policy but an invitation to allow abuse to continue unchecked.
