Shane Gillis Critiques UFC Fighter’s Comment on Michelle Obama

Comedian Shane Gillis expressed his disapproval of UFC heavyweight Josh Hokitt’s recent remark about former first lady Michelle Obama. This comment came after Hokitt’s victory over Derrick Lewis at the UFC Freedom 250 event, which was held at the White House.

During a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Hokitt made an unfounded claim stating that Michelle Obama is a man. The crowd in attendance had mixed reactions to his statement, with some laughing while others appeared unimpressed.

“Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” Hokitt told the audience, which sparked a varied response.

Gillis, one of the celebrities present at the event, remarked when asked about Hokitt’s comments, “I didn’t like it.” He repeated his sentiment, saying, “I didn’t like that, oh.”

Although Gillis has a history of making controversial jokes, he maintained that he found Hokitt’s comments inappropriate. He noted, “Oh, I didn’t like that. But he was funny anyway,” reflecting a slight contradiction in his stance.

Gillis has faced criticism in the past, particularly after being fired from Saturday Night Live in 2019 following the surfacing of a video that included anti-Asian slurs from his podcast. Despite this rocky history, he has continued to build a career in comedy.

While exiting the venue, Gillis was also queried about Donald Trump’s presidency, to which he simply replied, “Nothing,” before diverting the conversation toward cancel culture. He remarked humorously about enjoying some beers, which seemed to lighten the moment.

Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White stated that this event would be a unique occurrence at the White House, declaring it the first and last UFC event held there.
