Joe Rogan Defends UFC Event at the White House

On the latest episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, he expressed strong support for the UFC event held at the White House, dismissing criticism that it was politically motivated. He characterized the gathering as a unique, patriotic celebration.

President Donald Trump marked his 80th birthday on the South Lawn, coinciding with America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The UFC Freedom 250 showcased 14 fighters from around the world in a chain-link cage, drawing an estimated 4,300 spectators, including around 1,200 active military personnel. The event kicked off with a performance of the national anthem by country artist Zac Brown and concluded with a flyover by the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.

Rogan shared his enthusiasm with author Chase Hughes, recalling a spectacular fight he attended recently. He mentioned that alongside the official attendance, an impressive 85,000 people were watching on a giant screen outside the venue.

“It was insane,” Rogan remarked, reflecting on the magnitude of the event. He described it as the most thrilling night he’s experienced in 20 years of martial arts, emphasizing that every fight ended in a knockout—a first for such events.

Interestingly, Rogan had to persuade some hesitators, like comedian Shane Gillis, to attend. “I told him, ‘You have to come. It’s not just a once-in-a-lifetime thing; it’s an experience you need to see,'” he recounted.

Rogan’s friend Hughes nodded in agreement, while Rogan insisted it was a must-see event, even if it might not happen again.

During the conversation, Rogan criticized those trying to politicize the event. “Too many people want to make it partisan,” he said, arguing that attending should not be interpreted as political support. He added that both sides of the political spectrum seemed overly eager to claim ownership of the event, urging for unity rather than division.

Overall, Rogan’s commentary left an impression of nostalgia and excitement, as he navigated through the intricacies of an event that, while festive, faced scrutiny from various angles.
