Former NFL insider Diana Russini has at least one opportunity if she chooses to re-enter the public eye.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, mentioned in an interview with Us Weekly that he would readily hire her if she wanted to rejoin the sports media scene.
“Absolutely, if she wants to come on board, we would welcome her,” Portnoy said.
Portnoy made this remark while discussing his new memoir, “Cancel Me If You Can,” where he also touched upon the possibility of Russini joining Barstool Sports.
Russini left The Athletic in April, amidst controversy following photos of her and Patriots coach Mike Vrabel surfacing.
Images of them together at an Arizona resort prompted speculation, although both denied any wrongdoing. It’s worth noting that both have children from their respective marriages.
Following that, Page Six released an older photo of the two, which fueled further discuss. There was another photo taken years ago showing them appearing intimate in a New York City bar. Initially, Russini received support from The Athletic’s leadership, but an internal investigation into her conduct was soon initiated.
Ultimately, she resigned during this investigation.
Despite all this, Portnoy seems unfazed. He stated that such personal matters shouldn’t tarnish her professional opportunities. “Adultery isn’t on the level of murder. It’s unfortunate, of course, but it shouldn’t ruin someone’s career. If having an affair means you can’t work again, we’d lose a huge part of the workforce,” he explained.
“It’s certainly sad, but at the same time, this isn’t something that should end someone’s professional life.”
Russini is back in the spotlight this week after it was uncovered by Center Square that she may have fabricated a story during a radio appearance about receiving a traffic ticket while FaceTiming an NFL coach.
This incident was highlighted again in a New York Times piece focusing on the controversy surrounding Russini.
