Quick-thinking members of the U.S. Coast Guard at the Fort Myers Beach Station successfully rescued eight individuals—including an infant and a child—after their boat capsized near the Sanibel Causeway in Florida on Friday afternoon.

Rescue crews responded promptly to the scene, executing a well-coordinated operation that allowed them to bring everyone safely out of the water.

Officials highlighted that the operation’s success was due to the crew’s persistent preparation and effective teamwork.

The U.S. Coast Guard Fort Myers Beach Station stated on social media, “Mission success is measured by whether lives are brought home safely.” They emphasized that this high-pressure rescue serves as a strong reminder of why crews are always on alert and ready to act at any hour.

“When every second counts, preparation, communication, and teamwork make all the difference,” they added. Grateful for a positive outcome, the station also expressed their thoughts were with those involved and pride in the rescuers who played a role in this successful operation.

The Sanibel Causeway is situated in southwestern Florida, just west of Fort Myers along the Gulf Coast.
