Jesse Watters Criticizes Gen Z for Being Lazy and Entitled

Watters Questions Gen Z’s Support for Left-Wing Democrats

On Thursday, Jesse Watters from Fox News took aim at Generation Z for their backing of left-wing Democrats, suggesting their support might stem from “laziness.”

Recent primaries in New York and Colorado have seen candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) secure victories, often defeating incumbents, with a strong backing from younger voters. In a conversation with White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, Watters brought up the potential reasons behind Gen Z’s preference for DSA candidates, musing whether it stemmed from a lack of effort.

“Some of these kids, I call them ‘kids,’ because they’re in their 20s and they’ve never had a real job. They’re complaining about expenses,” Watters remarked, pressing Levitt on the growing influence of the DSA within the Democratic Party.

Levitt responded with criticism of Gen Z, claiming they were accustomed to comforts and didn’t appreciate the hard work that built the country. “This country was built on meritocracy and hard work, rising to prominence to achieve the American Dream,” she asserted. She suggested that liberal indoctrination plays a role in Gen Z’s support for leftist candidates.

Watters asked directly, “Is it laziness?” Levitt admitted there might be some truth to it but emphasized other factors. Watters followed up with a comparison to what professors might teach about systemic issues, hinting at a broader cultural narrative.

Levitt replied, attributing aspects of the younger generation’s mindset to “laziness and liberal brainwashing,” pointing to their educational experiences as an influence.

The conversation alarmed Nalin Haley, a 24-year-old and son of former Ambassador Nikki Haley. He voiced his frustration on social media, indicating it’s too simplistic to label an entire generation as lazy without addressing systemic issues like cost of living and employment challenges. “Ironically, it’s lazy to call an entire generation lazy without talking about real issues,” he tweeted.

He conveyed a sense of loss regarding the country’s trajectory, questioning whether either political party is genuinely addressing the challenges faced by young Americans today. Haley also noted that the economic burdens have intensified, with inflation and rising costs outpacing wage growth.

Data from the Ministry of Finance indicated that since 1990, expenses for housing, child care, health care, and education have significantly outstripped wage increases, leaving many young people still living with their parents.

Under the current administration, inflation measures have reached levels not seen in decades, which, experts believe, may correlate with certain policies impacting energy production and government spending.

Additionally, the unemployment rate for Generation Z is notably higher than the national average, with significant unemployment figures for younger age brackets. When Gen Z first emerged in 1997, the national debt stood at a considerably lower number, which has since surged dramatically.
