Crowd Applauds as Trump Urges Support for SAVE Act

Trump Advocates for SAVE America Act on Independence Day

During a Fourth of July address to a large gathering in Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump urged support for the SAVE America Act. He proclaimed that “America is back” and emphasized the necessity of implementing voter ID regulations, stating, “We want to keep America great.”

As he spoke to a crowd celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary, there were enthusiastic cheers when he highlighted the importance of proof of citizenship for voters. He noted that mail-in voting would be limited only to certain circumstances like illness, military service, or travel, claiming that such measures would eliminate election fraud.

Rep. Riley Moore from West Virginia mentioned that Senate inaction had stalled this initiative. He expressed frustration over the Senate’s lack of progress, asserting that House Republicans had successfully passed the SAVE America Act three times. Moore identified this Act as the original Voter ID bill, stating it would be linked to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

He explained that once the NDAA is addressed in the House, the SAVE Act language would be merged into it, creating a solid proposal moving forward. If the Senate were to oppose this addition, he indicated that leadership from both chambers would rally to reinsert it, thus putting pressure on senators to justify its removal.

Rep. Byron Donald from Florida also called for the immediate passage of the SAVE America Act, pointing out that Senate Democrats were using the filibuster to block a decisive vote. He conveyed that about 80 percent of Americans were in favor of the Act, underscoring the discontent on Capitol Hill.

Advocate Scott Pressler has been persistent in urging lawmakers to pass the SAVE America Act, which has gained notable attention as recent developments concerning mail-in ballots have emerged.

Trump reiterated the Act’s importance in light of a recent Supreme Court ruling that permits states to count mail-in ballots after Election Day. He stressed that ensuring citizenship verification is vital for the integrity of elections, dismissing any approaches allowing for easy mail-in voting, except under specified conditions.
