Florida man caught on video making ‘dirt angels’ while running from deputies on Christmas Eve

A Florida man was caught on video playing “dirt angel” at a construction site as officers searched him after leaving the scene of an accident on Christmas Eve.

A driver involved in a single-vehicle crash in Tampa shortly after 7 p.m. fled the scene of the crash before law enforcement arrived, according to a social media post from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Police authorities announced.

Police said the driver, identified as Eliezer Armando Reyes Rios, 34, took off and eventually climbed over a fence and into a large construction site.

Reyes-Rios was seen on sheriff's aviation unit video lying on a pile of dirt and beginning to create what officials called a “dirty angel” while fleeing from deputies. He was also seen talking on his cell phone.

“As you all know, he's just laying there with his arms behind his head, just casually,” the pilot told agents on the ground.

Officers said the man then jumped up and climbed over the fence, but was not fast enough and was subdued by three officers and a K-9 unit.

Reyes-Rios was arrested on multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a revoked, suspended or revoked license and trespassing on a construction site, according to the sheriff's office.
