A man was stabbed to death Saturday evening at an immigration processing center on Randall Island in New York City, officials said.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department confirmed the stabbing to Fox News Digital.
Police said law enforcement was called to the processing center about an “assault in progress” around 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
When police arrived, they found a 24-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest, police confirmed.

Doctors rushed the 24-year-old man from the processing center to Harlem Hospital Center.
Despite the efforts of doctors, the unidentified man succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

Police took a 26-year-old boy into custody. No fees were charged.

Responding law enforcement personnel were seen inside and outside the facility as the Big Apple prepared for its first nor'easter of the season.
More than 157,600 immigrants have arrived in New York City since last spring, according to city data.
In August 2023, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Randall's Island as a new taxpayer-funded tent city for illegal immigrants.
